Dr. Apaak pledges support for Education Plus, says it empowers adolescents as change agents

Deputy Education Minister, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, has pledged the Ministry’s full support for the Education Plus Initiative, describing it as a transformative programme that empowers adolescents to become agents of change.
Speaking at the National Launch of the Education Plus Initiative at La Palm Beach Hotel in Accra on Wednesday, 10 December 2025, Dr. Apaak said the initiative will realise the objectives of enabling students in schools to give their best in their endeavours.
“It is against this backdrop that the Education Plus Initiative becomes especially significant. Education Plus offers an integrated and transformative approach that ensures learners are not only in school, but are safe, healthy, informed, supported, and empowered,” the deputy minister said.

He explained that the initiative deliberately brings together multiple sectors, adding, “By bringing together education, health, gender equality, youth development, and social protection, we are deliberately moving forward together to create the conditions that enable every adolescent, particularly girls, to reach their full potential.”
Highlighting how the programme complements national policies, Dr. Apaak said, “This initiative strongly complements Ghana’s Education Strategic Plan and aligns with our broader national development agenda. Most importantly, it reminds us that empowering adolescents requires collaboration across sectors and meaningful engagement with young people themselves.”
He stressed the broader impact of empowering young people, noting, “When adolescents are empowered, they become agents of change who can transform not only their own lives, but the future of their families, communities, and our nation.”

Dr. Apaak also called for renewed action following the launch, urging stakeholders to create supportive environments for learning.
“Let us strengthen safe and inclusive school environments, expand access to comprehensive services, and ensure that every girl can complete her education and step confidently into adulthood,” he said.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to turning the initiative into tangible results, stating, “The Ministry of Education remains fully committed to this vision and stands ready to collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of Education Plus across the country. Together, we can translate this initiative from policy into practice and make its promise a lived reality for every adolescent in Ghana.”
The launch of Education Plus underscores Ghana’s coordinated approach to equipping adolescents with the skills, protection, and opportunities needed to succeed academically, socially, and personally.
