Even the Office of the President is not above the law – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama says the Office of the President is not above the laws of the country.
Addressing a gathering during Ghana’s National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, President Mahama highlighted the importance of justice and accountability in leadership.
He stated clearly that the Office of the President is not above the law and that equitable leadership, founded on honesty and reverence for God, is essential for a truly just Ghana.
“Even the Office of the President is not above the law. Leadership must be grounded in justice, honesty, and a reverence for God. If we want a just Ghana, we must be just in leadership,” President Mahama declared.
The President’s remarks serve as a reminder to leaders to prioritize justice and accountability in their decision-making.
In a recent article by the Daily Graphic, which indicated that leaders must be held accountable for their actions and decisions through a culture of transparency and openness.
The article cites accountability as “the cornerstone of good governance” and emphasizes the need for leaders to uphold high standards of integrity and transparency.
President Mahama’s message reinforces the importance of accountability and justice in leadership, encouraging leaders to strive for a more just and equitable society.
President John Dramani Mahama has expressed his appreciation to Cardinal Peter Appiah Turkson for accepting to preach the sermon at the first National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving Service slated for July 1.
The maiden edition of the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service will be held at the forecourt of the Jubilee House.

Cardinal Turkson, in response, noted that “if the President of your country calls, you can’t say no.”
He reiterated the need for the church and government to provide support and guidance towards our development and democracy.
He mentioned the new possibility of the church using its existing structures to promote sustainability, adding that the Catholic Church currently has a pilot project in Nigeria and will soon replicate that in other parts of the world.
Cardinal Turkson, who arrived in Accra, expressed appreciation to President Mahama for inviting him to preach at the Thanksgiving Service.
