Gender Minister announces disbursement of 97th LEAP payment cycle

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has announced the nationwide disbursement of funds under the 97th cycle of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) Programme.
Speaking at a press briefing in Accra, Dr. Lartey disclosed that the government has released an amount of GH₵150,162,434.00 to support payments to 350,580 beneficiary households across the country, covering an estimated 1,555,677 individuals. She explained that the current cycle includes both the regular bi-monthly grant for May and June 2025, as well as top-up arrears from the 96th cycle.
The Minister reminded the media that during the previous cycle in June 2025, the Ministry introduced a 25 percent increment in the LEAP grants in line with a broader inflation indexation policy. As a result, beneficiaries in the 97th cycle are receiving increased amounts, which also cover delayed arrears from the last payment round.
She stated that a one-member household will receive GH₵384, a two-member household will receive GH₵456, while households with three members will be paid GH₵528. Families with four or more members will receive GH₵636.
Dr. Lartey mentioned that the disbursement is not only about providing cash, but also about protecting livelihoods and restoring dignity to Ghana’s most vulnerable populations. She reaffirmed government’s ongoing commitment to inclusive social protection under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama.
She also noted that the Ministry is collaborating with the Ghana National Household Registry (GNHR) to clean up and validate beneficiary data to improve targeting and ensure that the right households receive support. Dr. Lartey expressed appreciation to development partners for their consistent support and called on the media and public to actively monitor the disbursement process to promote transparency and accountability.
