Ghana condemns Israeli attack on Qatar

Ghana has condemned the Israeli attack on Qatar, describing it as unprovoked, unlawful, and a major threat to peace in the Middle East.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a press statement in Accra on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, stressing that the government stands firmly with the Emir and people of Qatar in these difficult times.
The Israeli airstrikes, which targeted the sovereign State of Qatar, have been described by Ghana as a “clear violation of international law and an affront to sovereignty.” The Ministry warned that the assault undermines ongoing peace efforts between Israel and Palestine, while escalating tensions in an already fragile region.
“The Government of the Republic of Ghana condemns the attack in view of the fact that the airstrikes constitute a clear violation of international law and an affront to the sovereignty of the State of Qatar,” the statement declared. “This attack undermines the ongoing pursuit of peace between the States of Palestine and Israel.”
President John Dramani Mahama, through the Ministry, expressed solidarity with Qatar’s leadership. “His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama and the people of Ghana stand in solidarity with the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the people of Qatar in these difficult times,” the statement read.
Ghana also commended Qatar for its ongoing commitment to seeking peaceful solutions in the Israel–Palestine conflict, despite facing provocation. “We commend Qatar for their tireless and impressive commitment towards the resolution of the conflict between the States of Israel and Palestine,” the government stressed.
At the same time, Ghana urged that the assault must not derail efforts to achieve peace. “We further appeal that this condemnable incident is not allowed to derail Qatar’s effort in negotiating a peaceful diplomatic resolution of the conflict,” the statement added.
The Ministry reaffirmed Ghana’s long-standing commitment to diplomacy, dialogue, and respect for international law. Officials emphasized that the country remains consistent in its calls for peace and cautioned against any action that undermines stability in the Middle East.
