Women Commissioner of the Ghana Law Society, Anatu Anne Seidu Bogobiri Esq., has declared that the Ghana Law Society has established itself as a permanent and credible force within Ghana’s legal profession.
Speaking at the maiden Annual Conference of the Ghana Law Society at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra, she said the Society’s growth in strength, credibility and membership confidence demonstrated its place within Ghana’s legal ecosystem.
“The Ghana Law Society has grown in strength, credibility and membership confidence, emerging as a vibrant and viable professional body poised to champion the interests, professional development and welfare of lawyers within Ghana’s legal ecosystem,” she said.
She said the successful maiden conference represented an important milestone in the Society’s development and had set a strong foundation for its future.
“The successful maiden conference marks a remarkable milestone in the evolution of Ghana’s legal profession and sets a powerful tone for the future,” she said.
She was emphatic about the Society’s future, declaring: “The Ghana Law Society has come to stay.”
The conference also featured the unveiling of the Society’s official logo and brought together senior government officials, legal practitioners, academics, traditional leaders and law students.
The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, represented President John Dramani Mahama, while Speaker of Parliament Alban S. K. Bagbin and Chief of Staff, Dr. Julius Debrah were among the distinguished guests.
Other attendees included former Attorney-General Betty Mould-Iddrisu, Marrietta Brew, Joyce Bawa Mogtari and leading legal practitioners.
Leading academics, including Professor Peter Atudiwe Atupare of the University of Ghana School of Law and Professor Ernest Kofi Abotsi of the UPSA Law School, also participated in the conference.
The Ghana Law Society traces its early beginnings to the Law Society of Ghana (LSG), established around 2022.
The organisation says it has since grown in strength, credibility and membership confidence, with a focus on the interests, professional development and welfare of lawyers within Ghana’s legal ecosystem.
