Haruna Iddrisu discharged from hospital following road accident

Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has been discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment for a road traffic accident.
The Ministry of Education announced in a statement dated February 14, 2026, that the minister had been released from the 37 Military Hospital following the crash.
“The Office of the Honourable Minister for Education announces that Hon. Haruna Iddrisu has been discharged from the 37 Military Hospital following a road traffic accident,” the statement said.
It added that he “is in good spirits and has been advised to rest as part of his recovery,” noting that the minister expressed “sincere gratitude to the medical team and all who offered prayers and support.”
The statement was signed by Hashmin Mohammed, Press Secretary to the Minister.
Mr. Iddrisu was involved in the accident on Thursday along the Bolgatanga–Tumu road while travelling with Deputy Communications Minister Mohammed Adams Sukparu and members of their teams to the Upper West Region for official engagements.
Earlier communication from the minister’s office had indicated that both Mr. Iddrisu and Mr. Sukparu were in stable condition after the crash.
“The Minister and the Deputy Minister for Communications and Digital Technology, Hon. Mohammed Adams Sukparu, are in stable condition following a road traffic accident involving their convoy on the Bolgatanga–Tumu Road today,” an earlier statement dated February 12, 2026, noted.
The two ministers were on their way to commemorate the 40th anniversary celebrations of Tumu College of Education and Jahan College of Education when the incident occurred.
“The Ministers and their respective teams were en route to official engagements to commemorate the 40th Anniversary celebrations of Tumu College of Education and Jahan College of Education in the Upper West Region when the incident occurred,” the statement explained.
It further assured the public that “all members of the convoy are currently in stable condition and receiving the necessary medical attention.”
The office also expressed appreciation for the swift response from emergency personnel and bystanders.
“The Office expresses its appreciation to emergency responders, health professionals, and members of the public for their swift assistance and concern,” it said.
