Background
The Children Support Fund was established in the aftermath of the August 6 helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight high-profile personalities, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.
The victims were en route to an event aimed at tackling illegal mining and promoting responsible mining practices when the helicopter went down in a densely forested area.

The tragedy has shocked the nation and left several children without parents. The Fund was therefore initiated to ensure the long-term welfare of these children and to rally national solidarity around the affected families.
