Joseph Mensah Abakah files nomination for Central regional organizer

The race for the Central Regional Organizer position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has taken a defining turn as the grassroots’ overwhelming favourite, Comrade Joseph Mensah Abakah, affectionately called Commander 1, has successfully filed his nomination and been duly cleared to contest.
Commander 1, whose candidature has sparked massive enthusiasm across all 23 constituencies in the region, is not coming with mere rhetoric but with a pragmatic blueprint to transform the livelihood of party foot soldiers anchored on a tripod of Mechanism, Money, and Monitoring.
Speaking after his clearance, Commander 1 declared that genuine empowerment cannot be achieved through slogans.
“This is how serious and formidable political organizations do it. We cannot continue to run welfare from Accra and expect it to reach the last branch executive at the polling station,” he stated.
He broke down his 3M agenda as follows:
1. THE MECHANISM: A decentralized structure with a Dedicated Party Welfare and Enterprise Directorate, Regional and Constituency Welfare Officers, a verified database of over 38,000 branch executives, and District-Level Cooperatives in Transport, Farming and Skills, operating on a Training to Start-up Kit to Mentorship pipeline.
2. THE MONEY: A sustainable Party Enterprise Fund ring-fenced from dues and appointee contributions, a liaison desk to link qualified executives to YouStart, GEA, NEIP, YEA and Agric programs, plus private sector MOUs for subsidized equipment and training.
3. THE MONITORING: A radical transparency framework featuring published eligibility criteria with no protocol list, constituency-based disbursement, quarterly published reports, and a dedicated WhatsApp/USSD feedback loop for every branch executive to verify his status and report unfair treatment.
This, he says, is how the NDC will prevent elite capture and ensure empowerment truly reaches the grassroots.
