Julius Debrah inaugurates MiDA Board

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has inaugurated the newly constituted Board of the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA). He charged members to throw their weight behind the Chief Executive, Alexander Kofi-Mensah Mould, whom he described as “very innovative and progressive.”
Speaking at a brief ceremony in Accra, Mr. Debrah underscored the central role MiDA plays in advancing the government’s development priorities and urged the board to provide strong oversight while backing management to deliver on key projects.

The board is chaired by Charles Abugre Akelyira and includes five ministers of state: Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, Minister of Finance; John Abdulai Jinapor, Minister of Energy; Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection; Dr. Dominic Ayine, Attorney General and Minister of Justice; and Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister of Trade.
Other members are Alexander Kofi-Mensah Mould, Chief Executive of MiDA; John Awuah, representing the Private Enterprise Foundation; Ralph Mawuenyega Kojo Ayitey, representing the Association of Ghana Industries; and Ing. Dr. William Amuna.
Speaking on behalf of the chairperson, Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor pledged the board’s commitment to supporting President John Dramani Mahama’s “reset agenda.” He emphasised the need to fast-track initiatives that stimulate growth and job creation.
“We are poised to help the President achieve his reset agenda, and we will do everything possible to accelerate the economic growth of the country,” Mr. Jinapor said.
The Millennium Development Authority was set up in 2006 to implement Ghana’s Millennium Challenge Compact with the United States. Its mandate includes overseeing investments in infrastructure, agriculture, energy reforms, and private sector development. Over the years, MiDA has been instrumental in the Ghana Power Compact, which sought to improve electricity reliability and efficiency in support of industrial growth.
