Mahama attends CHOGM 2026, targets stronger economic ties with Commonwealth states

President John Dramani Mahama is set to hold bilateral engagements with several heads of state and government during his visit to Antigua and Barbuda for the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
The President will arrive in Antigua on Monday evening for the two-day summit in St. John’s, where Commonwealth leaders are expected to discuss economic cooperation, trade, investment and sustainable development.
The meeting, convened by King Charles III, will be held under the theme, “Accelerating Partnership and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth.”
It will bring together government leaders, ministers, business representatives and delegates from civil society and youth organisations to explore areas of common interest and opportunities for collaboration.
President Mahama’s participation marks his first CHOGM since returning to office following his re-election in December 2024.
His engagements are expected to focus on strengthening Ghana’s cooperation with other Commonwealth countries, particularly in areas of trade, investment and sustainable economic development.
The summit also offers a platform for leaders to deepen diplomatic relations and consider collective approaches to challenges confronting Commonwealth member states.
Mahama’s scheduled bilateral meetings will form part of his engagements during the two-day visit.
