Mahama stays up late to wish Lordina a happy birthday

President John Dramani Mahama stayed up until midnight to post a birthday message to First Lady Lordina Dramani Mahama, sparking reactions from officials and social media users.
Shortly after the clock struck midnight on March 6, President Mahama took to X to share a brief but affectionate message to his wife.
“Happy birthday, my dear Lordina. More of His blessings,” he wrote.
The late-night message quickly drew attention online, with several senior government officials joining in to celebrate the First Lady.
Minister for Communications, Sam George, posted a warm tribute describing Mrs. Mahama as a rare and compassionate figure.
“Happy birthday to a woman with a heart of gold. Mummy, your type is rare. May the Heavens bless you and all around you. May this year be the best year yet for you. You are loved, Mama Lordina Dramani Mahama,” he wrote.
Special Aide to the President, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, also shared her message on the platform.
“Happy birthday to you, Mummy @HE Lordina Dramani Mahama — First Lady of the Republic of Ghana,” she posted.
Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, added his own short greeting, writing: “Happy Birthday Mum…..First Lady of the Republic of Ghana.”
Beyond government circles, the president’s midnight message sparked lively reactions from X users, many of whom playfully commented on Mahama’s late-night gesture.
Fentuo Tahiru Fentuo, a sports journalist with Joy FM, joked that the president’s action had raised the bar for men across the country.
“As JM stay up till midnight to wish Mama Lordina Happy birthday deɛ, Ghana girls won’t let this slide. JM buy we we pressure paaaa! Dem send me this post without adding a comment but I understood the message,” he wrote.
Another user, @_Sharyf, commented: “He stayed up late to wish her — proper lover boy.”
A different user, @Baaba_R, humorously contrasted the president’s gesture with more casual attitudes to birthdays, writing: “Stayed up to wish her o, but Daniel in Takoradi said your birthday is just another day hm.”
Mrs. Mahama is currently serving as First Lady of Ghana for a second non-consecutive term after her husband returned to office on January 7, 2025.
Born on March 6, 1963, in Jema-Ampoma in the Bono East Region, she was educated at Ghana Secondary School and later pursued studies in hospitality management, governance and leadership, and business law.
The youngest of three children, she first entered national public life when her husband served as Vice President from 2009 to 2012, a period during which she held the role of Second Lady. She later became First Lady when Mahama assumed the presidency in 2012 and served until 2017.
Over the years, Mrs. Mahama has been associated with various social initiatives and advocacy efforts, particularly those focused on women, families and community development.
