Mahama to establish two Islamic Senior High Schools

The establishment of Islamic Senior High Schools (SHSs) in Ghana is important for several reasons:
Inclusivity: By providing specialised schools for Muslim students, the government can ensure that all students have access to quality education that meets their specific cultural and religious needs. This promotes inclusivity and diversity within the education system.
Cultural sensitivity: Islamic SHSs can provide a learning environment that is sensitive to the cultural and religious practices of Muslim students. This can help create a more supportive and understanding educational setting for these students.
Academic excellence: By focusing on the specific needs of Muslim students, Islamic SHSs can tailor their curriculum and teaching methods to better meet the academic requirements of these students. This can lead to improved academic performance and outcomes for Muslim students.
Community support: The establishment of Islamic SHSs can help build stronger ties between the government, Muslim communities, and educational institutions. This collaboration can lead to increased community support for education initiatives and improved educational outcomes for all students.
Promoting diversity: By offering a variety of educational options, including Islamic SHSs, Ghana can promote diversity within its education system. This can help create a more inclusive and equitable society where all students have the opportunity to succeed.
It is in the same vein that former President John Dramani Mahama has promised to establish two Islamic Senior High Schools (SHSs) in the southern and northern sectors of Ghana if he is elected as the next president.
Mahama made this announcement during a meeting with some Muslim leaders in the country, where he outlined his plans to improve education for Muslim students in Ghana. He emphasised the importance of providing quality education for all students, regardless of their religious background.
The establishment of these Islamic SHSs is part of Mahama’s broader vision to ensure that all students have access to quality education and opportunities for success. He believes that by providing specialised schools for Muslim students, they will be able to receive a more tailored education that meets their specific needs and cultural requirements.
Mahama’s proposal has been met with support from Muslim leaders and communities in Ghana, who see it as a positive step towards addressing the educational needs of Muslim students in the country. If elected as president, Mahama has pledged to work closely with Muslim leaders and educators to ensure the successful implementation of these Islamic SHSs.
