Mahama to provide canoe fishers with echo sounders and GPS

Fisher folks
Echo sounders and GPS are essential tools for modern fishing practices. Echo sounders use sound waves to detect underwater objects, including fish. Fishermen can use echo sounders to locate schools of fish and determine their depth and size, helping them to target their fishing efforts more effectively.
Echo sounders can also be used to create detailed maps of the seabed, including information on underwater structures, vegetation, and other features that can affect fishing activities.
GPS technology too allows fishermen to accurately navigate to specific fishing spots, track their movements, and safely return to shore. GPS can also be used to mark the locations of successful fishing spots for future reference.
Furthermore, GPS devices can help canoe fishers navigate the waters more effectively and safely, especially in adverse weather conditions or unfamiliar areas. This can reduce the risk of accidents and emergencies at sea.
Additionally, GPS can be used to track fishing vessels and monitor their movements, helping to ensure compliance with fishing regulations and sustainable fishing practices.
Both echo sounders and GPS can improve the safety of fishing operations by providing real-time information on water depth, weather conditions, and potential hazards, allowing fishermen to make informed decisions and avoid dangerous situations.
Overall, echo sounders and GPS are valuable tools for modern fishermen, helping them to increase their catch rates, improve efficiency, and ensure sustainable fishing practices.
In light of these enormous benefits, Former President John Dramani Mahama, a 2024 presidential aspirant on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress has promised to provide canoe fishers with echo sounders and gps if elected the next president of the Republic of Ghana.
Consequently, John Mahama’s plan of providing canoe fishers with these devices can have a positive impact on the fishing industry in Ghana, leading to improved safety, efficiency, sustainability, market access, and technological advancement for fishers.
