Mahama’s next government will provide free agro-inputs to farmers
Providing free agro-inputs to farmers can have several benefits, including:
Increased productivity: By providing farmers with essential inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides, they can improve their crop yields and overall productivity.
Improved livelihoods: Higher crop yields can lead to increased income for farmers, helping to improve their standard of living and economic well-being.
Food security: By supporting farmers with free inputs, there is a greater likelihood of increased food production, which can help to ensure food security for the population.
Sustainable agriculture: Providing farmers with agro-inputs can encourage the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices, such as organic farming or integrated pest management, which can benefit the environment and long-term agricultural productivity.
Poverty reduction: By supporting farmers with free inputs, they are better able to invest in their farms and increase their income, which can help to reduce poverty in rural communities.
Overall, providing free agro-inputs to farmers can have a positive impact on agricultural productivity, food security, and the livelihoods of smallholder farmers.
It is against this background that H.E. John Dramani Mahama, 2024 presidential hopeful on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress has promised that his next government will provide free agro-agro-inputs to farmers if voted for on December 7.
He emphasised that his government will prioritise the agricultural sector and ensure that farmers have access to the necessary inputs to increase productivity and improve their livelihoods.
Mahama also mentioned that his government will focus on promoting sustainable agriculture practices and supporting smallholder farmers to enhance food security in the country. He reiterated his commitment to the agricultural sector and promised to implement policies that will benefit farmers and boost the agricultural economy.
