Maiden CTVET Awards: Gov’t to establish dedicated TVET Fund to boost skills training – Apaak

The government is taking steps to establish a dedicated Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Fund to strengthen skills development and expand opportunities for young people across the country.
The Deputy Minister for Education, Clement Apaak, disclosed this at the Ghana TVET Excellence Awards 2026 held at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra on April 14, 2026.
He said the proposed Fund will provide sustainable financing for infrastructure development, equipment modernization, instructor training, and innovation within TVET institutions nationwide.
Government, he explained, is committed to ensuring that financing gaps in the sector are addressed to make skills training more effective and accessible.
“The proposed TVET Fund will also enhance access and equity by supporting needy but brilliant students, strengthening apprenticeship systems, and providing targeted support to priority sectors of the economy,” he said.
According to him, the initiative forms part of broader efforts under the government’s education reset agenda, which seeks to align skills training with national economic needs.
He added that the Fund will ensure that no young Ghanaian is left behind in acquiring employable skills, especially in priority sectors driving industrial growth.
The Deputy Minister stressed that TVET remains central to Ghana’s transformation agenda, describing it as a key pillar for industrialisation, job creation and inclusive growth.
He further noted that government is working to improve collaboration between training institutions and industry through structured apprenticeship and skills development systems.
