Namibia Teaching Service Committee calls on Dr. Apaak

The Namibia Teaching Service Committee has called on Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Apaak, at the Ministry of Education in Accra.
The delegation was led by the Chairperson of the Namibia Teaching and Learning Service Committee, Ms. Habate Doeses. The Committee oversees the recruitment, training, and deployment of teachers in Namibia.
The Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, says substantial investment in the education sector will achieve national development in the long term.
Dr. Apaak, who made these remarks when a Namibian delegation called on him at his office, said education had the power to transform societies for the better.
He said he was a testament to the long-term yields of education, adding that the delegation would be “amazed” if he told a personal story about how learning had immensely made him a better person.
“Investing in education is crucial for the development of any nation. Most of us are here due to the power of education. If we are to tell our histories and our backgrounds, just like yours, you will be amazed. The only reason why we are here today and are given the privilege to even say is through the power of education.
“So when we talk about the transformative force of education, it is self-evident. Therefore, investing in education is a good investment. In the long term, we can anticipate that investing in the educational sector is going to pay off greatly,” he remarked.
The deputy minister applauded the delegation’s engagement with local education stakeholders, urging them to relay their observations with the ministry in order that valuable lessons can be learnt.
“I understand that your visit has been very intense with interactions with the NTC, the Ghana Education Service, NACCA, teacher unions, and a visit to one of our colleges of education, the Presbyterian College of Education.
“Let me acknowledge the efforts you have put into gathering valuable insights and experiences from our institutions. I encourage you to share your key takeaways and insights from these interactions as we are eager to learn from your observations,” he urged the Namibians.
Dr. Apaak urged cross-border collaboration to enable African countries to harness collective resources to achieve their vision in education.
