NPP cannot win free and fair elections – Tanko-Computer

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed confidence that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) cannot secure victory in any free and fair election in Ghana.
Rashid Tanko-Computer, the NDC’s Deputy Director for IT and Elections, made the remarks on Morning Starr with Naa Dedei Tettey, pointing to what he described as the opposition’s lack of public support and alleged irregularities in its internal processes.
“The NDC does not seek to win elections through unfair means. We want transparency and fairness. Under such conditions, we are confident we will defeat the NPP,” Tanko-Computer said.
He further claimed that Ghanaians are dissatisfied with the NPP, accusing the party of a history of rigging elections. “Any free and fair election will see the NPP lose. Ghanaians do not like them. They are known for manipulating results,” he added.
Highlighting internal inconsistencies within the NPP, Tanko-Computer recalled their own party elections, saying, “During their internal polls, they even set up an anti-rigging squad. Why would they do that if everything was above board?”
Tanko-Computer emphasized that the NDC’s confidence stems from its governance style and policy framework. “Ghanaians support us because of our policies and the way we manage the country. We make governance inclusive — people can come, interact, and experience transparency firsthand,” he said.
He concluded by stressing the NDC’s commitment to monitoring electoral processes to ensure democratic integrity.
The comments come amid heightened political activity as Ghana prepares for future elections, underscoring the NDC’s narrative of popularity and accountability, while casting doubt on the credibility and public appeal of the NPP.
