#OccupyBoG demo underway: The stealing must stop – Dr. Apaak

The Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak has stated the stealing must stop under the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
According to the lawmaker, the NPP flag bearer hopeful only confirmed what Ghanaians already know.

“Kenny Agyapong, NPP Flagbearer hopeful, has confirmed what we already know; massive looting of public resources on going under the Akufo-Addo Bawumia NPP gov’t! Come out in your numbers. The stealing must stop!” Dr. Apaak stated in a tweet.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said that in order to more forcefully press its demands for the resignation of the Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison and his two deputies on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, they have come to an understanding on the demonstration routes suggested by the Police.

The police had been “unreasonable” with the routes, according to Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC’s national communications officer, but the NDC had made concessions to preserve public safety and order.
The protest is being organized by the Minority Caucus in Parliament and other pressure groups who oppose Dr. Ernest Addison, the BoG governor, and his two deputies’ ongoing tenure in office.
The organizer are calling for the resignation of the governor and his deputies at the Central Bank due to the bank’s GH60 billion loss in the 2022 fiscal year and its contentious new head office project.

While waiting for the #OccupyBoGProtest to take place, the GPS has also confirmed that it is well-equipped and has enough contingents to deploy.
The protest converged at the Obra Spot at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and proceed to Adabraka – Ridge Roundabout – National Theatre Traffic Light -High Court Complex Traffic Light – Attah Mills Highway and make a U-Turn at the National Lottery Authority and terminate at the Independence Square, the Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service (GPS), Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Grace Ansah-Akrofi, told press men at a presser in Accra on Monday.
According to ACP Ansah-Akrofi, the police have received enough training and preparation for the protest.
“We have an adequate number of police officers for tomorrow’s demonstration and I will want to urge every member of the public that wants to come for the protest to show up tomorrow because we have enough men to provide security throughout the length of the demonstration, and we will be there throughout,” Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Grace Ansah-Akrofi reiterated.
“They [police] have been very unreasonable on the routes but in the interest of public order and public safety and because we want to embark on this peaceful demonstration to press home our demands, we had compromises which we have agreed to. So on Tuesday, the demonstration is coming on,” Mr Gyamfi disclosed on CitiFM, Eyewitness News on Monday.
