Sexual abuse: Sam George confirms arrest of self acclaimed marriage counselor

Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Sam George, has confirmed the arrest of a self-acclaimed international marriage counsellor over alleged sexual abuse involving a minor.
The minister disclosed that the suspect, Reverend Dr Ebenezer Conduah, was arrested in the early hours of March 6 through a joint operation between the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) and the Ghana Police Service.
In a post shared Sunday on X, Mr George said the arrest formed part of efforts by authorities to enforce Ghana’s cyber laws and protect minors from online sexual exploitation.
“In the early hours of 6th March, as the nation prepared to celebrate our 69th Independence Day, the hardworking team at the CSA effected the arrest of one Rev Dr Ebenezer Conduah in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service,” he wrote.
Mr George described the suspect as a “self-styled radio international marriage counsellor,” adding that the arrest was linked to offences involving child sexual abuse material.
According to him, investigators believe the alleged abuse involved a 17-year-old minor and had taken place over several years.
“The self-styled radio international marriage counsellor was arrested for offences relating to child sexual abuse material in violation of sections 62 and 63 of Act 1038,” the minister stated.
Preliminary investigations by the Cyber Security Authority reportedly uncovered digital evidence linked to the suspect.
“The CSA team has uncovered recordings and online postings by the accused on international porn websites,” Mr George revealed in his statement.
He indicated that the suspect had already been arraigned before court as investigators work to complete their inquiries.
“He has been put before the court today and remanded for three weeks to allow the team to complete their investigations,” he said.
Mr George commended officers of the Cyber Security Authority for their work in the operation and stressed that authorities would continue to enforce cybercrime laws without fear or favour.
“I congratulate our Cyber Security team and reiterate that if you break our cyber laws, we will find you and hold you accountable, no matter who you are,” he added.
The case is expected to return to court after the three-week remand period while investigators finalise their probe.
