The Women’s Manifesto: 2024 General Election – Francis Kwesi Badu-Mello writes

Ghana stands on the brink of making history. The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is poised to become the first political party to select a woman as its running mate, potentially leading to the nation’s first-ever female vice president. This landmark decision reflects the NDC’s steadfast commitment to ensuring that women participate fully in the highest decision-making processes of our country.
In addition to this groundbreaking move, the NDC is proposing the creation of a Women’s Development Bank. This new institution aims to provide a wide range of financial benefits to women across Ghana. The economic and social impact of this bank could be profound, offering business loans and other financial assistance tailored specifically for women. The benefits of the Women’s Development Bank extend beyond individual empowerment, promising significant contributions to the national economy.
The upcoming 2024 general elections should prioritize policies that address the urgent need to revive Ghana’s struggling economy. The establishment of the Women’s Development Bank is poised to be a game-changer, providing crucial financial resources to women entrepreneurs and fostering economic growth. Economic analysts have praised former President John Mahama and the NDC for this innovative idea, recognizing it as a bold step towards economic recovery and gender equality.
Moreover, the NDC’s commitment to passing the Affirmative Action Bill, alongside having a female running mate and establishing the Women’s Development Bank, will elevate the status of women in Ghana. These initiatives are expected to improve the country’s standing in terms of women’s empowerment and participation in governance.
John Mahama’s track record as an experienced and visionary leader makes him the ideal candidate to implement these transformative policies. His dedication to women’s empowerment and economic revitalization is clear. By voting for John Mahama and the NDC in the 2024 elections, Ghanaians have the opportunity to bring joy and progress to all women and the nation as a whole.
Let us come together to support this visionary leadership and ensure a brighter future for Ghana.
