Two killed in Klagon crash after Eid prayers

Two Muslims have died in a tragic accident at Klagon Curve in Accra while returning home from Eid prayers.
The fatal crash has cast a pall over parts of the city, turning what is usually a day of celebration into one of mourning for families and the wider community.
Preliminary reports indicate the victims were riding a motorbike when the rider lost control while negotiating the sharp bend at Klagon Curve, a section of road known for its high risk and limited visibility.
Eyewitnesses said the motorbike veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with an oncoming commercial vehicle, popularly called a trotro. The impact was severe, with the rider pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger later succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.
Residents and passersby quickly gathered at the scene. Some tried to assist before emergency responders arrived, while others watched in shock at the extent of the wreckage. Traffic along the stretch slowed significantly as authorities cleared the site.
Klagon Curve has long been flagged as a dangerous spot for motorists, with road safety advocates urging drivers and riders to exercise extreme caution, particularly during festive periods when traffic increases.
The timing of the accident has heightened the sense of loss, as Eid-ul-Fitr is traditionally a time for prayers, family gatherings, and celebration. For the families of the deceased, however, the day became one of grief and mourning.
Community members have expressed condolences, describing the tragedy as a stark reminder of how quickly life can change.
Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, including speed, road conditions, and driver judgment. The incident has also renewed calls for stricter road safety enforcement and responsible driving.
As the city comes to terms with the tragedy, the Klagon Curve crash serves as a sobering reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of vigilance on Ghana’s roads.
