Wa Technical Institute Domestic Bursar in hot waters over allegedly hoarding food items

A team led by the Free SHS Coordinator in Wa has reportedly uncovered food items in the residence of Wa Technical Institute’s Domestic Bursar, Hawa Batong, during a planned raid.
In a video circulated on Facebook, the team could be seen inspecting several sacks and boxes of food items stored in a room.
“It will be something shocking,” one of the men in the room where the hoarded food items had been stored said.
According to the domestic bursar, the food items that were found at her residence were hers.
She reportedly showed the team some receipts to confirm that she had purchased the items herself.
Staff of educational institutions nationwide have been repeatedly cautioned against taking government-provided foodstuffs meant for their various schools.
Reports of such unlawful acts have been widely reported in the public domain, with the government showing renewed commitment to nip the menace in the bud.
Although the Ministry of Education has yet to formally to issue a statement on the development, it is expected that there will be a transparent investigation into the public interest matter.
Meanwhile, online users have been divided over the controversial video.
While some called for the bursar to face the full rigours of the law, others questioned why the footage was released, given that Madam Batong had reportedly provided receipts supporting that she had acquired them in a personal capacity.
