2024 Election: Reject NPP, Akufo-Addo-Bawumia gov’t over huge public debt

The Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak has called on the Ghanaian voters to vote against the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and their flag bearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2024 election.

According to the data, Ghana’s debt was GH¢611.2 billion at the end of 2023, but it rose to GH¢626 billion in January 2024 and further increased to GH¢658.6 billion in February 2024.

The increase in debt can be partially attributed to the depreciation of the cedi against major trading currencies.

Since the independence of the nation to former President John Mahama’s government before the NPP over in 2017, the public debt stood at GHc122 billion.

However, in just seven years under the NPP government, a whopping GHc536.6 billion has been added to the nation’s public debt.

Commenting on the development, the Builsa South lawmaker a voter against the NPP in the impending 2024 elections will end reckless borrowing and economic mismanagement.

“Reject NPP, reject DMB [NADAA]. End nepotism, barefaced corruption, reckless borrowing, economic mismanagement, selective justice, and misgovernance.

“A vote for DMB is a vote for NADAA. A vote for DMB is a vote to quadruple the current national debt. Vote for change! Vote for JDM! Vote for NDC! 24-hour economy, is the game changer,” Dr. Apaak stated.
