Dr. Zanetor wins top African Parliament role

Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament for Korle Klottey, has been elected as the Second Deputy President of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) in Johannesburg, South Africa.
According to the source, she secured a commanding victory, polling 131 votes to defeat her closest contender, who received 51 votes during the parliamentary session.
Her election marks a historic moment, as she becomes the first female representative from West Africa to hold this high-ranking position within the continental.
The role places her in the PAP Bureau—the leadership body responsible for guiding parliamentary proceedings across Africa.
It also strengthens Ghana’s voice within the African Union, which oversees the Parliament.
The Pan-African Parliament is made up of representatives from AU member states and works to promote democracy, good governance, and integration across the continent.
Dr. Zanetors’ landslide win reflects growing confidence in her leadership and highlights Ghana’s continued influence in African diplomacy.
