Death of Level 200 student of UCC must be treated as murder – Toobu

The Member of Parliament for Wa West, Peter Lanchene Toobu, has called on the Ghana Police Service to treat the death of a Level 200 student of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) as “MURDER”.

Commenting on the death on his Facebook page, the lawmaker indicated that there is suspected foul play in the circumstances surrounding the death of the lady.

He further called on the Ghana Police Service to treat the case “as a national priority”.

“The death of Innocentia Avinu, a level 200 student of UCC, must be treated as MURDER until otherwise proven. Foul play is clearly suspected, and I trust the capable hands of the Commissioner/CID Ms Yaako Donkor to constitute a team to treat this matter as a national priority.

“I know the IGP/Mr. C. T. YOHUNO by now has activated multiple networks of intelligence on this matter. I encourage all of us to support the police both overtly and covertly to unravel this mystery,” he added.

According to reports, Innocentia Avinu was last seen a few days before she was reported missing. When efforts by relatives and friends to reach her proved unsuccessful, they raised the alarm and began searching for her. Appeals for information were also shared in an attempt to locate her.

The discovery has left family members, friends, and the university community heartbroken. Many had hoped she would be found safe after concerns grew over her sudden disappearance.

The search took a tragic turn when a female body was found on a beach in Cape Coast. Police officers responded to the scene and transported the body to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital mortuary for preservation and identification.

Following investigations and identification procedures, the body was confirmed to be that of Innocentia Avinu.

The confirmation brought sadness to many who had been praying and hoping for her safe return.

Police have since begun investigations to determine what led to her death.

News of her death has spread quickly across the UCC campus, with students expressing shock and sorrow. Many have taken to social media to mourn her passing and offer condolences to her family.
