NDC Grassroots Voices group endorses Oppong-Fosu ‘reset’ agenda

A group calling itself NDC Grassroots Voices has expressed support for aspiring National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairman Akwasi Oppong-Fosu, backing his vision to reform and rejuvenate the ruling party.

In campaign flyers circulated on social media in recent days, the group has highlighted Mr Oppong-Fosu’s capacity to revitalise the party’s electoral machinery ahead of future elections.

The campaign message centres on his agenda of “restoration of values, renewal of mindset and resetting NDC”, which the group believes could strengthen the party and position it for future electoral victories.

The group is promoting Mr Oppong-Fosu’s campaign under the banner AOF4C, which stands for Akwasi Oppong-Fosu for Chairman, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the party as its next national chairman.

The contest follows the decision of the incumbent National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, not to seek re-election. His decision has fuelled speculation that he could be considering a bid to become the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.

Four other candidates are also seeking to become national chairman of the governing party in the upcoming internal elections.

The NDC over the weekend concluded its constituency-level elections and is expected to proceed to the regional elections in line with its electoral timetable.

As the contest gathers momentum, Mr Oppong-Fosu’s campaign team and supporters are expected to intensify their nationwide engagements with party members, seeking to win the support of the rank and file.

The campaign comes as the NDC seeks to consolidate its electoral strength and improve its prospects of securing another presidential victory in future elections.
