African Senior Athletics Championships: Sports Minister appeals for support

Sports Minister, Kofi Adams, calls for sponsorship as Ghana hosts the African Senior Athletics Championships for the first time.
Addressing the media on the 29th April, the minister noted this opportunity service as a milestone for the ministry in Ghana’s history.
“This is the first time Ghana, which turns 70 next year, has been given the opportunity to host this international competition since it assumed this format, and so for us it’s really a great opportunity.”
From the ministry of sports’ perspective, companies who will like to partner with the ministry will be widely recognized and certified.
“Like His Excellency the President announced some few days ago, sponsoring sports is a good cause, and we will give certificates to every company that sponsors sports.”
“So your sponsorship is tax-deductible, so once you are supporting the group of sports, you are also, in a way benefiting indirectly for supporting sports, and so whatever amount you spend gets deducted before even your taxes are calculated,” he clarified.
The minister expresses his gratitude to the corporate institution already in partnership with the ministry.
“Hoshi International Limited, thank you for taking up this responsibility not only just as a commercial entity but for an entity that thinks that sports is key to our development, and you needed to partner with the ministry and the Ghana Athletic Association in supporting a wedding course.”
Transparency and accountability will be a priority for all who wish to participate.
“We would also like to make sure that your things are done transparently so that the corporate that takes up such responsibility don’t lose but also benefit.”
Meanwhile, institutions who wish to contribute to this development are highly welcome.
“We have not shut the door. So you to come join them to elevate sports and to elevate especially athletics.”
The African senior athletics championship is said to come off from 12th to 17th May 2026 at the University of Ghana Sports stadium.
