Ambulance case: Godfred Dame mustn’t get away with trying to allegedly influence Mr. Jakpa – Apaak
The Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak has indicated that the Attorney General, Godfred Dame must not get away with trying to allegedly influence Mr. 3rd accused in the ambulance case, Mr. Richard Jakpa.
According to court reports the 3rd accused said: “The A-G has on several occasions engaged me at odd hours to help him make a case against A1 and I have evidence for that.. If he pushes me, I will open the Pandora’s box. I don’t understand why the A-G will accuse me of defending A1 when I’m here to defend myself,” Mr Jakpa said in court. “If he pushes me, I’ll open the Pandora’s box. I have evidence to all this,” he added.
Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has expressed should over the development.
“It has come to the attention of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), that during the proceedings of today, Thursday, 23rd May 2024, in the matter of the trial of the Leader of the NDC Minority in Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the 3rd Accused, Mr. Richard Jakpa testified in open court that the Attorney-General, Godfred Yeboah Dame has had several meetings with him at odd hours and telephone conversations impressing on him to skew his testimony to implicate the Minority Leader.
“These are matters of fact which formed part of the court’s record of proceedings today. The NDC is deeply scandalized by this clear case of persecution against the Leader of the party’s Caucus in Parliament who has been at the forefront of our struggle against the misrule of the oppressive and despotic Akufo-Addo/Bawumia NPP regime,” the National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah indicated in a statement.
Commenting on the matter in a tweet, the Builsa South lawmaker stated that the revelation at court is condemnable.
“The A-G must not get away with trying to influence Mr. Jakpa to skew his testimony in a manner that would incriminate Hon. Ato Forson.
“The conduct of the A-G, as revealed in court by the 3rd accused under cross-examination today, is not just condemnable but must attract serious sanctions,” he stated in a tweet.
