Bawumia’s comment on his Muslim candidate exposes his dishonesty – Dr. Apaak

The Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak has stated that Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s comment that he was elected because his Muslim faith exposes him.
This comes on the back of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia stating that he was elected as flag bearer because he is a Muslim.
Addressing a section Muslims in a mosque after his election as flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Bawumia called on the Muslims to make a difference in their generation.
“I am selected partly because I am a Muslim so I am selected because I am one of you. I am not representing myself, I am representing all of us. So let us make a difference in Ghana in our generation,” Dr. Bawumia stated.
In response to the Vice President’s comments, Dr. Apaak stated the tangent the Vice President has taken is not healthy for the development of the country.
“These comments by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to Muslim leaders expose his duplicity, which is very dangerous: says one thing to Christians and another to Muslims.
“Imagine John Mahama met Christian leaders and tells them he was selected partly because he is a Christian and he has been selected because he is one of them?” the lawmaker asked.
On his part, the Minority Chief Whip in Parliament, Governs Kwame Agbogah described the Vice President’s comments as sad.
According to him, Ghana is a unitary state with a high religious and ethnic tolerance.
“Ghana is a Unitary State with high religious and ethnic tolerance. Sadly, Dr Bawumia is beginning to introduce religious FANATICISM into our political space based on some of his comments.
“Christians, Moslems, Traditional Believers etc, all have the same rights,” Mr. Agbodza stated.
