Dennis Miracles Aboagye, spokesperson for the Bawumia Campaign Team, has been granted GH¢50 million bail with three sureties as investigations continue.
The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) granted the bail after questioning Mr. Aboagye over allegations linked to his tenure as Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD). He was arrested at the Kotoka International Airport upon his arrival in Ghana.
According to EOCO, the bail conditions require three sureties, two of whom must justify the bond before the conditions can be fully satisfied.
“Mr. Dennis Miracles Aboagye will be granted bail in accordance with the Constitution and the laws of Ghana,” EOCO said in a statement.
The anti-graft agency noted that the investigation forms part of a wider probe into alleged financial and procurement irregularities during Mr. Aboagye’s time at IMCCoD. Authorities are examining claims involving the alleged misuse and diversion of public funds..
Meanwhile, supporters and officials of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) gathered at EOCO’s headquarters in Accra following the arrest, calling for his release and urging investigators to ensure fairness throughout the process.
“We expect the law to take its course, but it must be done fairly and transparently,” some supporters said during the gathering.
EOCO has maintained that the investigation is being conducted professionally and without political influence. The agency says further updates will be provided as inquiries into the matter continue.
