Dr. Apaak fires NAPO over distasteful religious comments

The Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak, has responded to the Vice Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh’s, comments on religion, causing controversy about the intersection of faith and politics.

The NPP Vice Presidential candidate, addressing NPP party supporters, indicated that Muslims voting for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is haram, citing Islamic principles as the basis for his statement.

According to him, Muslims should prioritize their faith when making political decisions, implying that voting for NDC would go against Islamic teachings.

Dr. Prempeh stated, “Muslims should not vote for NDC because it goes against Islamic teachings.” He emphasized that Muslims must prioritize their faith when making political decisions.

Dr. Prempeh also noted, “Anyone who supports John Mahama in the Ashanti Region invites curses on themselves because he sacked all officials from the region during his tenure”.

In responding to NAPO, the Builsa South lawmaker stated that if that is what NAPO is telling the Muslim community, then it means the Christians should also vote for their own.

“In other words, if you say Muslims voting for NDC is haram, then Christians voting for NPP is also sin!”
