Mahama emotionally down by fatal helicopter crash – Education Minister discloses

Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has disclosed that President John Dramani Mahama has been left emotionally crushed by the tragic military helicopter crash that killed eight prominent Ghanaians, including senior government officials and military personnel.
The devastating incident occurred in the Adansi area of the Ashanti Region and has been described by government sources as a moment of immense national grief.
In an interview with JoyNews following the official confirmation, Mr. Iddrisu said the President is deeply affected by the loss.
“He is completely heartbroken. This is a heavy blow. We can only pray for divine strength to help him—and the nation—get through this painful moment,” he said.
The official announcement of the tragedy was delivered by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah at a press briefing on Tuesday.
“With a heavy heart, I must confirm a heartbreaking national disaster—the crash of a military helicopter in the Adansi area of the Ashanti Region,” Mr. Debrah told reporters.
According to authorities, the crash claimed the lives of five influential civilians and three Air Force crew members. The deceased include:
* Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence
* Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, MP and Minister for Environment, Science and Technology
* Muniru Mohammed Lemunade, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator and former Minister for Food and Agriculture
* Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
* Mr. Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate
The military personnel onboard were identified as Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
