Akufo-Addo calls on Mahama in second Kwahu Easter meeting

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on President John Dramani Mahama in Kwahu during the Easter festivities.
The meeting marks the second such encounter between the two leaders in Kwahu, following a similar visit during last year’s Easter celebrations.
The interaction highlights a growing cordial relationship between the two political figures, whose rivalry in the past was often intense and, at times, deeply personal. In recent years, however, both men have demonstrated a shift toward mutual respect, evident in their public engagements and private interactions.
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was seen departing the President’s place of stay in Kwahu, accompanied by members of his entourage, after the meeting.
While details of their discussions remain undisclosed, the visit has drawn public attention, given their political history and evolving rapport.
The political journeys of John Dramani Mahama and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo remain closely intertwined.
In January 2017, Mahama handed over power to Akufo-Addo after losing the presidential election to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate in a decisive outcome.
Years later, the roles reversed when Akufo-Addo, having completed his constitutionally mandated terms in office, handed over power to Mahama in 2025, marking a significant moment in Ghana’s democratic continuity.
Both leaders are currently in Kwahu for the Easter period, a time that has increasingly become associated with economic and social gatherings in the area.
They are expected to participate in the Kwahu Business Summit, an event that brings together business leaders and entrepreneurs from across the country.
The summit serves as a platform for stakeholders to explore strategies aimed at strengthening the local economy, promoting investment, and supporting business growth, reinforcing Kwahu’s reputation as a hub for Easter festivities and economic dialogue.
