Hand over Ofori-Atta’s case to EOCO – Kwaku Boahene to OSP

A former Deputy Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anthony Kwaku Boahene, has called on the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, to fully hand over the case involving former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) or the Office of the Attorney General.
According to him, both EOCO and the Attorney General’s Office are capable of handling the matter, and that the Special Prosecutor appears more focused on public attention than results.
“He is just drawing attention just to create the impression that he is working. For me, I don’t trust him, he doesn’t want other investigative bodies to take up the case. He is an NPP member, who doesn’t know this in Ghana? Why didn’t he investigate Ofori-Atta for corruption during the previous administration?” he quizzed.
Ken Ofori-Atta is currently under investigation by the OSP for alleged corruption and procurement breaches during his tenure.
The OSP has re-declared him a wanted person and a fugitive from justice after he failed to appear for a scheduled investigative interview on Monday, June 2, 2025.
EOCO and the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) have reportedly launched separate, active investigations into Ofori-Atta’s financial dealings during his tenure as Minister of Finance.
