I’ll thank Addison if I should meet him – Seidu Agongo

In a surprising turn of events, Seidu Agongo, the Majority Shareholder of the defunct Heritage Bank, has expressed his intention to thank former Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Ernest Addison, if they were to meet in person.

This revelation comes despite Agongo’s earlier accusations of political persecution against him by the Central Bank.

When asked what he would say to Dr. Addison if they met face-to-face, Agongo responded, “I’ll thank him so much.” This statement has raised eyebrows, considering Agongo’s previous criticisms of the Central Bank’s handling of Heritage Bank’s collapse.

Agongo has maintained that the collapse of Heritage Bank was unfair and politically motivated. In an upcoming interview with TV3’s Business Focus, Agongo shares his side of the story, questioning the Central Bank’s justification for revoking Heritage Bank’s license.

“If I’m not fit and proper, why were you asking me to merge with other banks? The same bank that was not fit and proper. Why were you asking us to merge with other banks?” he asks.

Despite the controversy surrounding Heritage Bank’s collapse, Agongo remains optimistic about what could have been. He believes that his bank would have brought unparalleled competition to Ghana’s banking industry. “But I’m better because Heritage Bank would have given all the banking industry in Ghana here the competition that they would never match it,” he asserts.
