Kpong water plant shuts down for emergency repair works: Ghana Water Limited

The Kpong water plant shuts down for emergency repair works per the latest update from the Ghana Water Limited.
The Ghana Water Limited (GWL) announced a temporary disruption in water supply to the Tema Metropolis and some parts of Accra as engineers carry out important emergency repair works at the Kpong Water Treatment Plant.
In a statement issued on Thursday, August 28, the Ghana Water Company explained that the Kpong water plant emergency shutdown became necessary after a major fault was detected on the raw water transmission pipeline that feeds the facility. According to GWL, the repair works are expected to take three days, during which customers in the affected areas may experience low pressure or no water at all.

The areas expected to be affected include the entire Tema Metropolis and surrounding communities such as Ashaiman, Gbetsele, Akatamanso, Klagon, Lashibi, Baatsonaa, Spintex, parts of East Legon, and other neighbouring localities. GWL has advised residents in these places to store enough water while the limited supply is still available in some sections.
The company also indicated that measures have been put in place to support essential institutions, including hospitals, schools, and other critical service providers within the affected zones.
