NDC Ashanti Region Responding To Allegations by NPP

Mr. Ofori Agyemang Boadi, former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi, has responded to allegations made by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is plotting to rig the upcoming elections.
In an interview on Morning Starr, Mr. Boadi addressed the allegations, describing them as “silly” and emphasizing that the meeting in question was a public event covered by local and national media.
According to him, the meeting focused on the NDC’s plans for the mining sector, including decentralization programs to prevent environmental destruction and generate income and employment. Mr. Boadi explained that the meeting was attended by stakeholders in the mining industry, including small-scale miners, and was not a secret gathering as alleged by the NPP.
The NPP had claimed that the NDC was training thugs to disrupt the electoral process in the Ashanti Region, specifically mentioning a secret meeting held at the Mawuli Hotel in Obuasi. However, Mr. Boadi clarified that the meeting was a public event aimed at engaging stakeholders in the mining sector.
Mr. Ofori stated, “If I were an army, why would I go and announce that? You’ll be on a list. So, anybody that wants to harm and goes around talking about it, if you have to do this, you have to do that, those people are cowards.”
“The allegation is silly. Who in their right frame of mind would hold a secret meeting and invite media personnel to cover it?” Mr. Boadi questioned.
