ORAL cases involving Wontumi, Skytrain, others set for this week

A series of high-profile cases connected to the government’s anti-corruption and anti-illegal mining campaign under the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative are expected to continue in court this week.
The update was announced by Deputy Attorney-General Justice Srem-Sai in a Facebook post on Monday, May 11, 2026.
According to Dr Srem-Sai, hearings scheduled between May 11 and May 14 involve cases linked to alleged illegal mining, cybersecurity-related offences and corruption investigations.
Proceedings opened on Monday at Criminal Court 4 with the ongoing Skytrain trial involving former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund, Solomon Asamoah.
The court was expected to continue hearing the cross-examination of the third prosecution witness in the case.
Another matter before the courts on the same day involved Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, alongside Akonta Mining and three others over alleged illegal mining activities in the Nimiri Forest Reserve.
That hearing was also expected to continue with the cross-examination of the first prosecution witness.
On Tuesday, May 12, the case involving former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau, Kwabena Adu Boahene, and two others is scheduled to resume at Specialised Court 1.
The matter, described by prosecutors as a cybersecurity software scandal case, is expected to continue with the cross-examination of the third prosecution witness.
The Skytrain trial involving Solomon Asamoah is also expected to resume later the same day at Criminal Court 4.
Court activities linked to the ORAL initiative are expected to continue on Wednesday, May 13, with the Akonta Mining case returning for further cross-examination of the first prosecution witness.
The cybersecurity software scandal case involving Kwabena Adu Boahene and two others is also scheduled to continue before Specialised Court 1 on the same day.
On Thursday, May 14, the cybersecurity software matter is once again expected before Specialised Court 1, while Criminal Court 4 is set to hear Chairman Wontumi in the Samborei illegal mining case.
According to Dr Srem-Sai, proceedings in the Chairman Wontumi matter on May 14 will centre on a case management conference for the defence.
The ORAL initiative forms part of the government’s broader effort to investigate and prosecute alleged corruption-related offences and illegal mining activities across the country.
The initiative has led to several ongoing investigations and prosecutions involving former public officials, politically exposed persons and companies accused of engaging in unlawful activities.
