Predecessors of NPP sabotaged Nkrumah’s vision for developing Ghana – NDC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the predecessors of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) of sabotaging Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s vision for expediting industrialization in Ghana.
This is contained in a press a release signed by the National Chairman for NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah in marking the 58th anniversary of the overthrow of Ghana’s inaugural President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
According to the NDC, the day of the coup would forever be remembered as a shameful day for Ghana.
Mr. Nketiah emphasized that the nation must unequivocally reject such acts of betrayal, which have set Ghana back and reversed years of progress.
“On 24th February, 1966, President Nkrumah was ousted from office through Ghana’s first-ever coup d’etat. That day will be remembered as Ghana’s day of shame, as the coup truncated Nkrumah’s transformational vision which he had set in motion for the accelerated development and industrialization of our country,” the National Chairman of the NDC stated.
He also stated that despite efforts to rewrite the history of the Ghana, Dr. Nkrumah’s legacy remain unmatched.
“Instructively, the coup was executed by security personnel with the active orchestration of the forbears of those at the helm of affairs of our country today, in close collaboration with their foreign pay masters.”
“This nation-wrecking act was followed by a deliberate agenda by the Danquah-Busia- Dombo tradition to obliterate the memory of Nkrumah by attacking his works and legacy. Despite their determined efforts to rewrite history, the memory of Kwame Nkrumah lives on, and his legacy remains unparalleled,” Mr. Nketiah stated.
He also called on Ghanaians to reject the NPP in the upcoming 2024 election for their selfish interest.
“We must say never again to such acts of treachery, that have set our nation back and rolled back the clock of progress by several years. Ghanaians must reject those whose mission is not to pursue the path of democracy for the upliftment of our citizens, but their selfish quest for historical revisionism and the recognition of their ancestors.
“Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah truly never dies,” the NDC National Chairman reiterated.
JOHN MAHAMA ON GHANA’S DAY OF SHAME
Meanwhile, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Mahama has also described the day as infamy in Ghana’s history.
In Facebook post, the former President stated that the overthrow of Dr. Nkrumah as with active support of the CIA.
“58 years ago today, a group of reactionary forces within the security services, with active support from the CIA, carried out a coup d’état against Ghana’s President, Pan-Africanist, and statesman Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah.
“This was a day of infamy in Ghana’s history, forever altering the course our nation’s history,” Mr. Mahama stated.
