Voter registration: Increase the number of personnel at your District Offices – AEI to EC

The African Electoral Institute (AEI) is calling on the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) to increase the number of its registration personnel for each registration center across the country.

According to AEI, when the personnel are added on it will allow for speed registration of eligible voters and not discourage them from leaving the centers due to the slow nature of the process.

“Even though the Institute noticed the nationwide challenges of the EC’s equipment and starting time, another challenge observed by the African Electoral Institute is the large number of registrants crowded at the various EC’s District Offices just to register and vote in the upcoming general elections on 7th December, 2024.

“The African Electoral Institute is hereby calling on the Electoral Commission to increase the number of its personnel who are registration officers at each District Office to facilitate the speedy registration of registrants,” Deputy Director of Communications, Nii Adjin- Tettey advised in a press release.

THE AFRICAN ELECTORAL INSTITUTE (AEI) IS CALLING ON THE ELECTORAL COMMISSION ( EC) TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF ITS REGISTRATION PERSONNEL FOR EACH REGISTRATION CENTRE

The African Electoral Institute (AEI) has observed the large number of registrants yearning to have their names in the voter register since the start of the Limited registration on 7th May,2024.

Even though the Institute noticed the nationwide challenges of the EC’s equipment and starting time, another challenge observed by the African Electoral Institute is the large number of registrants crowded at the various EC’s District Offices just to register and vote in the upcoming general elections on 7th December, 2024.

The African Electoral Institute is hereby calling on the Electoral Commission to increase the number of its personnel who are registration officers at each District Office to facilitate the speedy registration of registrants.

This, African Electoral Institute, believes will motivate registrants to stay and register instead of some of the registrants getting frustrated and abandoning the process.

AEI continues to urge the security agencies to maintain law and order at all registration centres.
