Mahama orders investigation into 2020, 2024 election deaths

President John Mahama, has requested the Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, to launch an immediate investigation into the tragic deaths of eight Ghanaians during the 2020 and 2024 general elections.
According to a statement issued, these incidents have left an indelible mark on the nation’s democratic process, demanding swift and transparent action.
A letter signed by Callistus Mahama, Ph.D., Secretary to the President, highlighted the government’s commitment to ensuring justice for the victims and their families.
The proposed measures include forming a dedicated taskforce within the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to focus solely on these cases.
“To maintain public trust and ensure transparency, we kindly request periodic update on the progress of the investigation.
This will help to keep stakeholders informed and assure the public of your commitment to uncovering the truth”.
