The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, on 21st May, met with NPP Members of Parliament (MPs) and delegates to outline the party’s position in winning the 2028 general election.
Speaking to party delegates, Dr Bawumia expressed gratitude, “well done, well done, well done” to the minority for their role in opposition, which earned them the “mighty minority”.
“But I have not come only to congratulate you, I have come to encourage and strengthen your hand and to remind you that the role you play from this Thursday is bigger than the number of seats we occupy in Parliament,” he said.
He urged the minority in parliament to uphold the interests of the Ghanaian people, as they are ready to return them to power.
“You are the face of the hope that millions of Ghanaians still have in the new patriotic party”, the NPP flagbearer said.
“You are the expression of the ambition and plans of our party for the people of Ghana, do not underestimate your place in this moment in opposition,” he added.
According to him, the minority in parliament is not an audience or an onlooker.
“The minority caucus is not a spectator, you are the first line of accountability, the first line of policy scrutiny, and the first line of reassurance to citizens”, Dr. Bawumia said.
“Who are beginning to ask whether these promises made to them were carefully thought through or merely crafted for campaign applause,” he stretched.
“I believe in this caucus, I believe in your intellect, your courage, your experience, your political instincts, and above all, your love for NPP and Ghanaians,” the NPP touchbearer pointed out.
