NPP presenting a weak candidate to a national election – Prof. Kobby Mensah

Political Marketing Strategist and Lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), Professor Kobby Mensah has stated that the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is presenting a weak candidate to a national election.
The NPP on Saturday November 4, 2023 in a National Delegates Congress elected Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia as its flag bearer ahead of the 2024 election.
Mr. Bawumia polled 118,210 votes in the Presidential primary which had 204,144 delegates casting their ballot.
The Vice President is on record to have accused former President John Mahama of being unable to fix the Ghanaian economy during his tenure.
“You have presided for eight years over the collapse of our economy. If you knew the plan that will work for the economy and be successful, why haven’t you implemented that plan in eight years, why?” the Vice President quizzed.
In an interview on Joy News, the Political Marketing Strategist stated that the current administration has performed poorly.
“I’ve never seen NPP presents a very weak candidate to a national election like this. I mean whichever candidate they choose I don’t think they are in a poor position. Talking about a stable currency everybody knows this government is not meeting its debt obligations so certainly you will have stable currency.

“We have IMF support coming and the majority of the expenditure as we see is not coming from individuals, it’s coming from the government. Why couldn’t you have a stable currency for the past eight months? So it’s definitely not the reality of you are talking about where the government meeting its debt obligation and everything working normal,” Prof. Kobby Mensah stated.
However, the Special Aide to former President John Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari in a tweet has stated that despite the Vice President being the establishment candidate he could not achieve his predictions.
“The Bawumia 80% prediction has fallen flat! On a level playing field he would have lost falaaa!!
“As an establishment candidate, with all the vote buying and government logistics, you manage to get a paltry 61%+?”
In a related development, Special aide to former President John Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari has stated that Vice President Bawumia is not his own man.

In a tweet, the special aide to Mr. John Mahama stated that the Vice President has failed to tackle the real issues the nation is confronted with under his watch.
Madam Mogtari further stated that the Vice President must be reminded of the prevailing economic hardship in the country.
“Nothing said about the economy, about his abysmal performance as the head of the economic management team and absolutely nothing about the poor exchange rates, high inflation, high interest, the reckless spending and debt.
“Today we appear to be courting sympathy and all the cockiness of the past gone! He is certainly not his own Man!” she stated in a tweet.
