NPP risks 12 more years in opposition without urgent reforms – Kwabena Agyapong

Senior NPP member Kwabena Agyei Agyapong has strongly warned his party that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) may retake power in the 2028 elections with a new presidential candidate unless the New Patriotic Party (NPP) immediately resolves its internal problems and enacts significant reforms.
In such a scenario, he cautioned, the NPP would be in opposition for a minimum of 12 years.
In an interview with Kwame Nkrumah Tikese on Okay FM’s morning show on May 19, he made these remarks. In order to prevent protracted political stagnation, Kwabena Agyapong underlined the importance of unity, discipline, and strategic direction within the NPP.
He said the Party is currently in disarray, particularly in light of the significant loss they suffered in Ghana’s last general elections.
He went on to say that, in order for the Party to be able to stand firmly before the four years catch up with them, there are a lot of issues that need to be ‘thrown out’ right away before they are too late.
According to Kwabena Agyapong, the party’s cohesiveness, which is now lacking, might prevent them from winning the 2028 elections unless the issues are resolved right away.
