Persons involved in WASSCE malpractice won’t be shielded – Dr. Apaak

The Ministry of Education has issued a stern warning to all staff involved in this year’s WASSCE, declaring that anyone caught engaging in exam malpractice will not be shielded.
This firm position was outlined in a statement signed by Deputy Education Minister, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, who emphasized that teaching and non-teaching staff who engage in aiding or abetting cheating will face harsh consequences.
“Those who participate in any acts that compromise the integrity of the examination will be dealt with severely. This year, we are watching closely. Surveillance and monitoring have been intensified,” Dr. Apaak noted.
In partnership with the GES, WAEC, and national security bodies, the Ministry has launched a coordinated effort to crack down on malpractice and restore confidence in the examination system.
The warning extended beyond punitive action. Staff have been reminded of their role in shaping the future of the country through ethical leadership and personal accountability.
“Schools are places of learning, not breeding grounds for dishonesty,” the Ministry declared. “The Ministry of Education will not shield anyone who engages in any attempt to aid or abet any examination irregularity.”
The Ministry further encouraged staff to report any suspicious activities and reminded them that the responsibility for clean and credible exams is shared.
The consequences, the statement said, will be “swift, public, and unforgiving.”
