Stop misbehaving, let this be your last time — Ayariga to Afenyo

The Majority Leader in Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, has cautioned Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin over his behavior in the House. Ayariga’s comment came after Afenyo-Markin accused the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) of failing to fulfill its promises to Ghanaians.
However, NDC MPs took exception to the Minority Leader’s comments, prompting Ayariga to caution him.
According to Ayariga, Afenyo-Markin must learn to conduct himself properly in Parliament. “The Minority Leader should learn to behave properly in this chamber. Please, let’s treat each other with respect. You cannot stand here, throw your hands around, and point at us while saying we don’t keep our promises.”
Ayariga further emphasized that the budget had just been presented and was yet to be considered or approved for implementation. He then warned Afenyo-Markin, saying, “The budget has just been presented; we have not yet considered it or approved it for implementation. You cannot always stand up and talk as if you are superior to everyone in this chamber. Let this be the last time.”
This is not the first time the two leaders have clashed. Previously, they disagreed over the construction of a new parliamentary chamber and a dedicated hospital for MPs. The Minority Leader has also criticized President John Dramani Mahama for allegedly not adhering to required procedures during the vetting of the Finance Minister-designate.
