NPP youth to stage protest against government over galamsey, CJ dismissal

The youth wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced a demonstration next Tuesday to protest the government’s handling of galamsey, political dismissals, and unfulfilled promises.
NPP National Youth Organizer, Salam Mustapha, told journalists that the protest would highlight the government’s failures.
“Galamsey has swallowed this government and it’s even belching,” he declared.
According to him, the administration’s record has been marked by deliberate victimization and targeted actions against its own citizens.
“When this government came into office and began on bad faith targeting young people who had been duly appointed and revoked the appointment, we said it, that we are in for a rough ride,” he said.
Mr. Mustapha further claimed that government decisions were carefully engineered to weaken institutions and intimidate opponents.
“From the dismissal of young people to a dismissal of the CJ, now they are going after their political opponents. It is something that is well orchestrated, well planned,” he noted.
He stressed that the demonstration is not just about partisan grievances but a broader demand for accountability.
“All of us should deal with this matter and ensure that we hold politicians to account,” he urged.
Mr. Mustapha also cautioned against the culture of unfulfilled campaign pledges, saying the youth would no longer tolerate empty promises.
“Never again should politicians use lies, deception, lofty promises to win elections and do nothing. Because we all believed in the recent agenda,” he emphasized.
The youth wing said next week’s protest would serve as a strong signal to the political leadership that Ghana’s young people expect transparency, and accountability from government.
