World Cup qualification: Black Stars thrash Central African Republic 5-0

The Black Stars produced one of their most commanding performances in recent years, humiliating the Central African Republic (CAR) with a 5-0 victory in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match played in Morocco on Tuesday, October 8, 2025.
Is The emphatic win not only reignited Ghana’s confidence but also placed the team at the top of Group I, giving them a strong chance of securing qualification for the global tournament.
From the blast of the whistle, the Black Stars displayed intent and aggression, pressing their opponents high up the pitch and maintaining tight control of possession. The breakthrough came through defender Mohammed Salisu, who rose highest to head home from a corner kick, giving Ghana an early lead and setting the tone for what would become a dominant performance.
Moments later, a brilliant link-up between Jordan Ayew and Thomas Partey doubled Ghana’s advantage. Ayew’s intelligent pass found the Arsenal midfielder in space, and Partey made no mistake, calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner to make it 2-0. The Black Stars continued to dictate the pace of the game, denying CAR any opportunity to regroup or launch counterattacks.
In the second half, Ghana’s momentum only intensified. Alexander Djiku added a third goal with another powerful header from a set piece, before Jordan Ayew, who had been influential throughout the match, got his name on the scoresheet with a composed finish inside the box. The icing on the cake came from Kamal Deen Sulemana, whose superb effort completed the 5-0 rout and sealed a memorable night for the Black Stars.
The victory takes Ghana to the top of Group I with 22 points, ahead of Madagascar with 19 points, while Mali and Comoros sit third and fourth with 15 points each. The Black Stars’ qualification destiny now rests firmly in their own hands as they prepare to face Comoros in their final group match at the Accra Sports Stadium on October 12, 2025.
A win or even a draw in that encounter will be enough to secure Ghana’s place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The team’s convincing performance has rekindled optimism among fans, who believe this generation of players has what it takes to restore Ghana’s status as one of Africa’s football powerhouses on the world stage.
