NPP youth wing petitions presidency over alleged political intimidations

The leadership wing of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has formally petitioned the presidency over what it describes as a “deliberate weaponization” of security agencies.
Speaking in front of the Jubilee House, where the ‘Yensuro Ahunahuna’ demonstration had ended, the party’s Youth Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye, accused the government of intentionally harassing members of the opposition.
He observed that they had come to call attention to the concerns they had long harbored.
“We are here at the Jubilee House, the seat of government. The New Patriotic Party, through the national youth wing of the party, staged this mammoth against what we will describe as a deliberate weaponization of state institutions, specifically the security agencies, purposely to harass members of the opposition party,” Mr. Boakye said.
He noted that the youth wing had secured the full backing of the party to embark on the protest.
The petition was presented to the vice president’s Chief of Staff, Alex Segbefia.
The demonstration, which started at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, climaxed when the leadership of NPP youth presented the petition to the Vice President’s Chief of Staff, Alex Segbefia.
Meanwhile, former Health Minister, Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, who spoke to reporters, chided the government for the prevailing youth unemployment and the age-old problem of illegal mining, a persistent menace to the country.
“He promised jobs for the youth. He promised women he would establish a bank for them. He promised the end of galamsey. What is happening today? Today, the youth are unemployed and are at home. These water bodies have been destroyed, and there is no women’s bank.
“If NDC is not careful, by 2028, they will have done very little,” he told journalists during the protest.
The protest was also attended by the NPP Youth Organizer, Salam Mustapha, and some members of Parliament of the Minority side, including Deputy Minority Whip, Jerry Ahmed Shaibu, Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe.
